Northwest Center was founded in 1965 by Seattle parents of children with disabilities who wrote the first state law to grant access to public education to people with disabilities and led the way for landmark federal changes. They went on to prove people with disabilities belong in the workplace, and that when people of all abilities learn and work together everyone benefits.
What began as Northwest Center job training and workshops grew into businesses where people with and without disabilities worked side by side: a furniture woodworking shop; a secure shredding company; and assembly, packaging, and administrative services for companies and organizations, including Nordstrom, Starbucks, and Washington state’s King County.
Today Northwest Center owns and operates a portfolio of commercial businesses, including OneNorth Integrated Facility Services.
